PRESS RELEASE - SEAL BEACH POLICE ANNOUCE SPECIAL NEEDS STICKER FOR HOMES AND VEHICLES

Seal Beach, CA – The Seal Beach Police Department is offering free stickers which will
help alert law enforcement that they may be interacting with a person with special
    needs.

The special needs sticker program was implemented by Corporal Joe Garcia as another
tool to help law enforcement officers when interacting with those with potential physical
or developmental disabilities. The stickers, which are available for free to the public, are
designed to be placed on or near the front doors of homes or on car windows. The
stickers will alert officers that a person inside the home or vehicle may have special
needs and instructions may not be easily understood.

“Seal Beach Police Officers receive annual training on how to interact with people who
have special needs. With that, the goal of this sticker is to assist us with those calls for
service involving anyone who has them and we ask for your partnership in identifying
your loved one’s special needs beforehand,” said Chief of Police Philip L. Gonshak.

Stickers are available to the public and may be obtained at the Seal Beach Police
Department lobby located at 911 Seal Beach Boulevard, Seal Beach, CA 90740 or the
Seal Beach Police Sub-Station located at 820 Ocean Avenue, Seal Beach, CA 90740,
during normal business hours. For more information, please contact Corporal Joe
    Garcia at jgarcia@sealbeachca.gov or (562) 799-4100 ext. 1649.
