As a result of the recent, high-profile events which have occurred throughout the country, several members of the Seal Beach community have contacted the Seal Beach Police Department to inquire about the Seal Beach Police Department’s use of force policy and practices.

Man Who Intentionally Struck Officer with his Vehicle was Fired Upon by a Seal Beach Police Officer
A Seal Beach Police Officer fired at a man who intentionally struck the officer with his vehicle. The suspect was not hit by the gunfire and both the involved officers and suspect were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Updated Local Coronavirus Case Count
As of June 10, 2020 there were 57 confirmed cases in Seal Beach according to the Orange County COVID-19 website. This is a 29 case increase from the previous day. Although this is a large increase, it can be partially explained by the methods in which the active case numbers are reported both to the County of Orange and the State of California
