The Seal Beach Junior Lifeguard program has been canceled due to concerns of spreading the coronavirus.

The Seal Beach City Council approved a progressive plan to reopen the Gum Grove Nature Park and the Seal Beach portion of the San Gabriel River Bicycle Path. The plan consists of a three-phased approach with restrictions being gradually lifted as it is safe to do so.

The Seal Beach City Council has authorized the City of Seal Beach to move forward into both Phase Two and Phase Three of the “Beach in Motion” reopening plan, and Phase Two of the Gum Grove Nature Park reopening plan.

The Seal Beach Police Department’s Community Oriented Policing (COP) Team will be deployed for the summer season. This two-officer team will be patrolling throughout the city, Main Street, and the beach area in anticipation of the increased crowds and summer activity.

The State of California has amended the Stay at Home Order and is easing restrictions allowing for certain businesses to conditionally reopen.
