Press Release - Help Identfy Package Thief

SEAL BEACH, CA - The Seal Beach Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a serial package theft suspect.

On October 10, 2020 at about 4:00pm, an unknown female suspect stole a package from a porch located in the 4800 block of Hazelnut Avenue. The crime was captured on the homeowner’s video surveillance system. During this incident, the suspect approached the front door of the residence holding a large yellow envelope. She removed a package from the porch and concealed it behind the yellow envelope.

The suspect is described as a female Caucasian, in her mid-30’s, about 5’6” and 160 lbs. She had brown hair pulled back into a bun, a tattoo on her left arm, and was wearing dark colored sunglasses, a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and a dark mask pulled down off her face hanging around her neck. She was also wearing flip flops and what appeared to be an ankle bracelet tracker on her leg (see attached video and still images).

The suspect is believed to be associated with a white Chevrolet sedan.

Seal Beach Police Detectives have reason to believe this suspect has committed similar thefts in the neighboring city of Westminster.

“We need the public’s help to identify this suspect,” said Seal Beach Chief of Police Philip L. Gonshak. “The suspect made the mistake of committing this crime in broad daylight and although she was wearing a mask, made no attempt to conceal her face. I’m confident someone in the community will recognize her.”

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jeff Gibson at (562) 799-4100 ext. 1109 or jgibson@sealbeachca.gov.
