When and where are City Council meetings held?
The City Council meets regularly on the 2nd and 4th Mondays (or on Tuesday if Monday is a holiday) of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 211 8th Street, Seal Beach. The City Council also acts as the Redevelopment Agency.
How can I find out what items are on the Council meeting agenda?
The agenda describes all the items for consideration by the City Council. State law mandates that all agendas be posted at least 72 hours before a meeting. Agendas may be obtained as follows:
- Access through the web - www.sealbeachca.gov
- Agendas are posted at the Mary Wilson Library, Rossmoor/Los Alamitos Library and the Leisure World Library on the Friday before the Council meeting date as well as in the City Clerk's Office.
- Review agenda posted adjacent to the Council Chambers door.
Can I speak at a Closed Session?
By State law closed session is not open to the public. The public has an opportunity to speak on any closed session item before the Council goes into closed session.
How can I speak at a Council meeting? Do I need to call before the meeting?
Members of the public may speak under "Public Comments" or on any item listed on the Agenda.
Are the Council meetings televised?
Yes. Council meetings that take place in the Council Chambers are videotaped and broadcast live on Seal Beach TV3, Channel 3 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Meetings are also broadcast on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
How can I find out what happened at a City Council meeting?
To obtain information on any item discussed at the Council meeting, you may call the City Clerk's office the day after a decision. Council approved minutes are available on the City's website or from the City Clerk's Office.
