Interim Chief of Police

Interim Chief of Police Joe Miller has over 29 years of experience in a variety of positions working for the Seal Beach Police Department. He was hired by the City of Seal Beach directly from the Golden West Police Academy. He has worked a variety of assignments during his career, including: Motor Officer, Motor Supervisor, SWAT Officer, Field Training Officer, Explorer Advisor, Press Information Officer, Investigations Sergeant, Police Officer Association President, and Police Management Association President. Joe has also supervised the Traffic Bureau, the ACTION team, Bicycle and Beach Patrol, and played a significant role in the creation of the West County Major Crimes Task Force.

Interim Chief of Police Joe Miller grew up in the City of Placentia, and currently resides in Orange County with his wife and his three sons. Coming from a family with five sisters and a brother, Joe is a natural fit in the unique family fabric of the Police Department. He is also a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.
