MEDIA ADVISORY: COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT) EXERCISE – Saturday, July 20, 2019
The City of Seal Beach, the Seal Beach Police Department, and the West County CERT team will host a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Disaster Exercise on Saturday, July 20 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Joint Forces Training Base—Los Alamitos.

PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU REMINDS EAS PARTICIPANTS OF UPCOMING DATES AND DEADLINES FOR 2019 NATIONWIDE EAS TEST
The Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (Bureau) of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) reminds all Emergency Alert System (EAS) Participants1 and the public that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the FCC, will conduct a nationwide test of the EAS on August 7, 2019, with a back-up date of August 21, 2019.2  The Bureau also reminds all EAS Participants to file Form Two in the EAS Test Reporting System (ETRS) at or before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on August 7, 2019,3 and to file ETRS Form Three on or before September 23, 2019.4  Additional information, including instructional videos and answers to frequently asked questions about entering data into the ETRS forms, can be found at https://www.fcc.gov/general/eas-test-reporting-system.

Press Release– Theft suspects arrested after stealing property from an unlocked vehicle.
On Sunday, July 20, 2019 at about 1:41 a.m., the Seal Beach Police Department received a call of a two suspicious subjects in the area of Seal Way and 10th Street.  The caller saw a man and woman checking door handles of cars parked in the area.  When officers arrived, a witness directed the officers to the two suspects who were hiding under a parked car.

Press Release– Person of Interest Sought
On April 25, 2019 at about 5:20 PM, the Seal Beach Police Department received a call of a vehicle burglary which occurred in the parking lot of the Chico’s clothing store located at 12217 Seal Beach Boulevard.  Just prior to the vehicle burglary, the victim left a nearby Wells Fargo bank after withdrawing valuables from a safety deposit box.  The victim then parked her car in the Chico’s parking lot and went in to shop.  When she returned to her vehicle, she discovered it had been broken into and her property was gone.

On Tuesday, August 6, 2019, the City of Seal Beach will join the efforts of thousands of other communities across the country to promote safety, strengthen police-community partnership and rejuvenate community spirit by participating in the 36th Annual “National Night Out”.  This year’s National Night Out provides an opportunity for the Seal Beach Police Department and our public safety partners, to enhance our crime prevention efforts by promoting cooperative relationships and reinforcing the need for community involvement.
