PRESS RELEASE - Phone Scam
The Seal Beach Police Department wants to remind all residents to be wary of phone scams, and those soliciting for charities. Seal Beach Police have been receiving reports of a phone scam targeting Seal Beach residents. The callers claim to represent an unidentified California firefighter group and are asking for “donations.” Various phone numbers are being used to call residents and most of these phone numbers are not traceable. Please do not provide any money via telephone.

PRESS RELEASE - Robbery Arrest
On November 11th, 2018 Seal Beach Police arrested Miguel Gutierrez (age 19, of Compton) and Leonardo Barboza (age 20 of Compton) on charge of Robbery.

On November 10th, 2018 at approximately 11:55 pm two male subjects approached the victim near the corner of 8th Street and Central Avenue. One of the subjects produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet and cell phone, and fled in an older model black SUV. A follow up investigation led police to the two subjects, who were arrested in the City of Compton. Both subjects were arrested on the charge of Robbery. Both subjects are being held at the Orange County Jail and the case has been referred to the Orange County District Attorney.

Seal Beach Police to Conduct Active Shooter Training Exercise
The Seal Beach Police Department will be conducting an active shooter training exercise at J. H. McGaugh Elementary School (located at 1698 Bolsa Avenue, Seal Beach) On Tuesday, November 20th, 2018. The training exercise is scheduled from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm and will simulate an active shooter incident at the school campus. Residents in the surrounding area may hear loud noises associated with the training, but should not be alarmed, as the purpose of the training is to practice active shooter tactics and protocols.

Street Closures for Seal Beach Holiday Parade
The annual Seal Beach Holiday Parade will take place on Friday December 7th, 2018 beginning at 7:00 P.M. The Seal Beach Police Department will be diverting traffic on Pacific Coast Highway and closing several streets to vehicular traffic for the parade.

PRESS RELEASE - ROBBERY WITH A KNIFE

On November 21, 2018, at approximately 5:27 p.m., the Seal Beach Police Department received a call of a grand theft from the AT&T Store, located at 12830 Seal Beach Boulevard.
